Angela Francis like other relayers terms her fight with cancer as ?personal?.
In Portsmouth and Suffolk, Francis is the new community manager for American Cancer Society. It has been since November 2010 that Francis has worked with the society and has also covered Portsmouth, Sussex, Franklin and Emporia before this.
The 2012 Relay for Life will be held on May 18-19 and what Francis is remembering is her grandfather David Francis, who last year unfortunately died due to leukemia last year.
She said, ?That?s another reason that I?m happy to be working more with the Suffolk Relay now.?
When Francis was in school at Lakeland High School in Suffolk, her friend had cancer and since then she has always supported Relay for Life after she helped start a Relay for Life team at Lakeland and her friend has been surviving cancer since 15 years now.
She said, ?Ever since then, I never stopped Relaying.?
It was in 2002 when Francis had graduated from Lakeland and before taking her present job in the American Cancer Society, she used to eork in sales.
So far, the Suffolk Rockin? Relay for Life has raised nearly $20,000 and has more than 40 teams signed up, but they still are looking for more volunteers, she said.
